Need to Bring a Gift?

A few simple gifts and
hors d'oeuvres recipes that you could almost make in the trunk of your car.

The gift portion of this post was inspired by watching a woman put a gift bag together from the trunk of her car in the target parking lot...I have TOTALLY been there.
The snacks part of this post was inspired by the Thompson/Samardzija gals!
Also, my sister pointed out today that I have made a fruit salad in my car before
Bring a big bowl and spoon with you in the car...run into the grocery store and get mandarin orange slices, sliced pineapple, and mini-marshmallows. Dump them into the bowl...voila!

SNACKS TO SHARE

*click on the link to print this one off!
Approximate time: 5 minutes! Here is a photo of the dish that I made, as well as a snapshot of the main ingredients. I served mine with organic blue tortilla corn chips.
Another quick tip-use several baby seedless cucumbers to cut back on cutting time. When cutting the avocado, use a knife to gently pop out the seed, then scoop the insides out with a spoon to assure nice pieces vs. a mushy mess.

Recipe 2: Taco Roll-Ups
*This is my go-to appetizer that makes a big impact in little time...and the original recipe is hand-written by my husband's mother.
Approximate time: 15 minutes.
-2 packages cream cheese (I use the 1/3 less fat)
-1/2 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
-1/4 cup chopped green onion

-1/2 package of Hidden Valley Fiesta Ranch Seasoning (in the salad dressing aisle)
*Mix that all together and spread one generous spoonful evenly onto a medium sized burrito shell. Then roll it up tightly and slowly, so you don't tear the shell.
*You should get about 6 or 7 roll-ups

*Chill the roll-ups for 10 minutes uncovered in your refrigerator.
*Slice the chilled roll-ups in one inch "coins"-and eat the ends that don't look pretty...it happens.

Every single time I have made these, within 24 hours someone is contacting me for the recipe!

Recipe 3: Mom's Strawberry Salad
Approximate time: 5 minutes
This is one of those recipes that once you make it, you have to make it at least once a week. I can always count on the ingredients for this to be in my mom's refrigerator!
www.marzetti.com
-A bag of your favorite lettuce mix (we use a spring mix)
-craisins or dried cranberries to taste (about 3/4 cup)
-candied or glazed walnuts or pecans (about 3/4 cup)
-T. Marzetti's Strawberry Chardonay bottled dressing to taste (Wiseway usually has it, if not they will order it, wink wink...Strack's does too)
-one container of strawberries washed and thinly sliced
*Mix all the ingredients together in a big bowl...add the dressing in last so you can make sure not to add too little or too much. Enjoy, and be sure to share!
